Other Ways to Give

Employer Matching

Did you know that many employers match funds donated by their employees? That means your $500 gift could become a $1,000 gift. Some companies will even donate for hours you’ve spent volunteering. Find out how you can best leverage your gift and help further our mission to give justice to homeless, low-income, and mentally disabled individuals who need their Social Security benefits.

Here is a list of companies in Washington State that do provide match.

Note: If your company isn’t listed here, talk to your human resources department to find out if they have a matching program.

Gift of Stock

Giving a gift of publicly traded stock that has increased in value and that you have owned for more than one year may provide better tax benefits than giving cash.  Your charitable income tax deduction is equal to the fair market value of the stock and you avoid paying the capital gains tax on any increase in the current value over the original cost of the stock.  You may also save on brokerage fees because you are transferring ownership rather than selling the stock.
