It was fantastic to see such a vibrant and passionate crowd at the SCLC open house to learn about our clients, and the work that volunteer and staff do. Each time we gather, the community that is SCLC grows larger and stronger. Thank you for your continued support. Stay tuned for up and coming news about expanded services at SCLC soon. |

Over the last several months, as congress pushes to create a thoughtful and effective budget for our nation, Social Security benefits have been a topic of conversation. It is our position that there should be no question about whether to preserve, and improve, access to and administration of the only stable safety-net for people with long-term disabilities that are unable to work on a regular and continuing basis. Senator Cantwell agrees, and has indicated so by supporting the Reid/Sanders Social Security Protection Amendment (S. Amdt. 207). |

Some of our greatest gifts are the letters of gratitude from our clients: Dear Mindy, A couple of months ago you and I met to discuss my case with [SSA]. It took some time for things to work out but, thanks to you I was not totally in the dark. I want to thank you for taking the time to educate me and give me tools required to navigate Social Security issues. You helped me so much and I am so grateful to you. Thank you… I just wanted you to know I will not forget your kindness, and when I am feeling better, and can work, I will “pay it forward” to someone who needs help like you did for me. Thank you again. If you would like to support SCLC in continuing to help people with disabilities maintain economic and medical stability you can become a part of our work by volunteering or making a donation today! |
